I agreed to this trade for a few reasons. 1: Salary cap space. When I took the team over the cap was pretty much maxed out with older expensive players. I had no room to get players in FA to even fill out the roster. 2: I get younger. Darvish's elbow scares me and he is only under control for 1 year. Encarnacion, while fantastic, will be 37 when his contract is over and I felt it was a gamble for me to expect production throughout the life of that contract. 3: Improves my weak minor league team. To me Frazier and Acuna are both top 15 prospects and Hansen and Fried I have in my top 100. 4: I get Dahl who is under control for 4 years before a possible extension and fills a huge need for me in LF.
