Minnesota trades the following MLB players:
Bobby Miller, SP/LAD $500K 25-27 Javier Assad, SP/CHC $2M '25 Enmanuel Valdez, 2B/3B/BOS $500K 25-27
and MILB players:
Cade Horton, SP/CHC Jake Gelof, 3B/LAD
to the Boston Padres for: Michael Busch 1B/CHC $500K 25-27 Michael Toglia 1B/RF, COL $500K 25-27 March Minor Claim
Reasoning: Needing to beef up offense, and trading from a surplus of pitching. Especially tough to lose Miller and Horton who have a lot of upside, but quality begets quality. Hoping both Toglia and Busch continue to both improve on their 2024 seasons. As always, Houston was a tough but fair negotiator and I think it's a win-win trade for both of us.

Boston confirms. I also hate to move two breakout offensive studs who are controlled and may end up at different positions down the line, but with Harper at 1B and some solid MLB ready 1B prospects, they are expendable for good, high ceiling pitching. This one stings a bit for both of us, but I also think it fits both teams’ immediate needs.
