Det/Col sends
Cano, Robinson SEA 16: $23m 17: $25m 18: $25m 19: $25m 20: $25m

in exchange for

Carlos Rondon, 16: $500k, 17: $500k, 18: $500k, 19: $500k
Trevor Plouffe, 16: $5.3m, 17: $6.3m

My reasoning for this trade is simple. I have Kinsler at 2B and Peralta at MI so I have the positional flexibility to move him and it frees up CAP space to allow me to bid in FA for players that do fit my needs and it gives me a young controllable SP in Rodon and a possible trade piece in Plouffe.

I confirm I agreed to this deal because I have a soft spot at second and I needed a reliable bat and Cano provides just that. I know I took on a lot of salary but my mantra since I joined has been that of a win now team and this trade inches me closer to achieving my goal.

Before I can approve this deal, all team's salaries need to be checked. You're only allowed to be $10M over cap during the offseason, which is $185M MAX. Need to make sure that Cano fits in San Diego's cap.

As long as Cano fits in SD Red Sox cap under $185M, then this is Commish Approved. I certainly hope this is the case because Jon is now trading Rodon in another deal.
