San Diego Sends Michael Gettys 2016 4th round minors pick Philadelphia Sends Adrian Beltre 16:$16M I chose to do this deal because it gives me a very solid bat albeit an old one and it is a good move for me considering I am trying to win now. I've already moved quite a bit of other prospects for other pieces so why stop now?  |

Agreed. The Phila./Rangers are looking to build for the future. Michael Gettys is a solid outfield prospect with some upside. Adriene Beltre is on the older side and is only signed for 2016 in the amount of 16 mil. So I did get to save some cap room for the future. Good luck San Diego. Who knows, last to first in one year ? Anything can happen.

While I agree on the principle of this deal, I respectfully request San Diego to send Philly just a bit more. Yes Beltre at $16M for one season is a lot to take on, but he's still a top 3B bat and demands more than a very good prospect. I'd like San Diego to offer either another prospect (certainly doesn't have to be in a team's Top 10) or even a draft pick in addition to Gettys. Both Drew and I reviewed this deal and believe adding one other chip gets this deal done.
