I confirm. I did this deal because I viewed my pitching as a soft spot on my roster and I get a bonafide ace without having to worry about the growing pains that I think Martinez could have. I also get two prospects in the swap which was essential to the deal.

Reasoning: I was able to shed a whole lot of payroll for this year as well as the following years without sacrificing too much talent while also receiving a cheap Carlos Martinez who I think could come close to matching Lester's production in the near future.
