Joey Bart, C (SFG) - ‘22-‘25: $0.5M
CJ Abrams, SS (SDP) - prospect
Nick Lodolo, P (CIN) - prospect
To the Oakland Cubs for
JT Realmuto, C (PHI) - ‘22: $5M
Anthony Rizzo, 1 B (NYY) - ‘22: $14.5M
Byron Buxton, OF (MIN) - ‘22: $5M
Andrew Heaney, P (LAD) - ‘22: $5M
2023 5th round draft pick
Royals Logic: I am close to the top and my biggest lack is power and OBP/OPS. These additions help close that gap. I am giving up a lot of prospect talent, but the biggest hit is Abrams. I think Bart might be a AAAA player, at least that’s what he’s proven to be so far. I really like my pitching depth, so Lodolo was an easier inclusion. Abrams is going to be a stud, but I really think I have a chance to finish in the money, so I’m going for it.
Great working with Mitchell and I hope the prospects work out for him.
