What began as me asking to grab an extra pick in the draft turned into... well much more. This is a culmination of multiple trade talks over the course of a couple months. Simply put, the Padres believe Baez has MVP caliber stuff still and that there is still plenty of value at this point in the draft. love the addition of Hendrick and Campos to maybe THE MOST talented MiLB outfield now. Thanks to Nate and Chase for great negotiations!

We had a hole in the OF and Randy fills that. He's cheap, under control and the projections have him for a wRC+ at 110-120. We believe in Matt Chapman and again, two years of control at the minimum price. We aren't out on Baez, but he's a one year rental and would have been a risky play for us to pay top dollar for. We also have Mondesi and Seager at SS. Nate was happy with the prospect price (which I know little about), so this was a good deal for us. Enjoyed working it out.
