Padres send: Mike Trout, CF - LAA 20: 33.25M 2020 Draft Pick 5.9
to Colorado for: Keibert Ruiz, C - LAD prospect Franmil Reyes, RF - CLE 20-21: 500K 2020 Draft Picks 1.14, 3.14
Reasoning: To prepare for the future of our clubs success, Trout was more valuable to us as a trade piece than contributing in 2020. Also clearing $33+ Million in cap space will let us commit to more FAs this offseason. Love the upside of Ruiz, Reyes power and the opportunity to move back up in this years draft.

I agree. Couldn’t pass up the opportunity to acquire Trout. Nice discussions with Houston on this deal.

After advice and rule clarification from the Commissioner, the trade above is under further review by both teams. The knowledge that even though Trout was on a FA contract, he could be Franchise tagged for up to 5 years at the bargain price of $15M, was not known by either team. Even though both teams felt satisfied with the trade as stated above, with new information, we thought it only fair to review our trade and come to a more fair and equitable deal for both teams. The updated trade will be uploaded soon. I personally want to apologize for all involved parties for not doing my due diligence in knowing everything about my new team and its players before I began trading.

IN ADDITION to the pieces stated above (Reyes/Ruiz/picks 1.14/3.14), the Colorado Tigers will also send the following prospects to Boston: Monte Harrison, OF - MIA Leody Tavares OF - TEX Isaac Paredes SS - DET
The Padres will only send what was stated above to the Tigers (Trout and Pick 5.9).
Drew, once Rusty confirms we should be good to go!

I confirm the new deal adding those pieces. For the same reason as before, couldn’t pass up the chance for trout. Nice negations again with Houston to fix the deal with the new understanding we both now have about the contracts.

For full league disclosure, I asked Houston and Rusty to look at the original deal again due to the idea that Trout was Franchisable at $15M and thus a very valuable piece. DD2 is different from DD1 and some of the others in that we voted down the change to the Franchise rule that would have made it a percentage of salary, rather than the 15M.
Thank you for the work on restructuring. Commish approved and processed.
