Reasoning: It took a long time to hash out this agreement, but this deal is about acquiring Jarred Kelenic as a key building block in the new and improved Toronto Brewers. I hesitate to give away high draft picks and control of a good OF in Verdugo, but adding Kelenic and Marsh was worth the cost, in my opinion. The other cost in the deal was taking on these extra pieces (and contracts), but after much negotiation, I believe Rusty and I settled on a deal we both like.

I agree. I really value Kelenic, but was willing to part with him to acquire some more picks in what I consider a strong upcoming draft I also wanted to shed some contracts which this deal helped accomplish. Getting Verdugo to add to my young OF made it a deal I couldn’t pass up. Nice working this deal out with Dave.
