4. Victor Alcantara (P) DET: prospect
to the Boston Padres in return for
1. Clayton Kershaw (P) LAD: 2019 ($32M)
2. Matt Barnes (P) BOS: 2019 ($.5M)
3. Lucas Giolito (P) CHW: 2019 ($.5M), 2020 ($.5M), 2021 ($.5M)
4. Ozzie Albies (2B) ATL: 2019 ($.5M), 2020 ($.5M), 2021 ($.5M)
5. Justus Sheffield (P) SEA: prospect
6. Pick 2.2 in minors draft
This was a HUGE deal for me. Going into this year with this roster, Trout was the biggest piece that we had, but realized quickly it wasn't enough to make any progress with just him. This trade gives me some depth in my pitching, and some great young talent to start to build around. And combining Trout and Kershaw helped it be a wash on the salary side.
