Why do we have different bidding guidelines for Restricted Free Agency & Unrestricted Free Agency ?

We always have, since Diamond Duos started in 2013. Nobody has questioned it before now and why is that an issue? Restricted Free Agency should be much stricter as it allows a previous owner some form of being able to retain selected players. There should also in my opinion be some form of compensation for an owner who loses an RFA and this will be discussed over the next several months so we can get it right and maybe make some positive adjustments for next offseason. But RFA has to go with those strict bidding guidelines because more is at stake.
UFA is just that, unrestricted. The guideline are far less stringent and they should be. $500K max for 2 years, up to $750K max for 3 years. Otherwise it's all fair game, even large one year offers. Only other thing is 6 year maximum contract.
